About
Are Mortgage Rates Down Today? is a one-page website with a single mission: answer the question in the URL with a single word. YES, NO, or NOPE. SAME. No popups. No drip campaigns. No mortgage broker chasing you down with a personalized rate quote.
Every Thursday, Freddie Mac releases the Primary Mortgage Market Survey (PMMS) — the 30-year fixed average that mortgage Twitter argues about all weekend. We grab the number, compare it to last week, and update the giant headline accordingly.
What you get
- This week's rate vs. last week's rate, in plain numbers.
- A historical chart since Q1 '21 so you can stare at the line.
- A monthly payment calculator and a refinance savings calculator.
- A meme. Always a meme.
What you don't get
- Financial advice. (Seriously, talk to a real person about real money.)
- An account, a login, or a newsletter signup.
- Affiliate spam disguised as "today's best lender."
Data source
All rate data comes from Freddie Mac PMMS. It's the same number your lender is quietly refreshing all day.
